Leadership

Nikki Peterson

League Director / Race Director

Nikki grew up in Nevada and she is excited to return to her home state to help get #morekidsonbikes! Nikki has been involved with NICA since 2017 and has served in nearly every role possible in the SoCal League, gaining valuable experience along the way. Nikki also hosts a podcast called Girls Moving Mountains, a NICA GRiT-inspired project which focuses on telling stories across NICA while building the female community of mountain bikers.

Nikki found mountain biking after a string of injuries while on a running scholarship in college. After college, she moved to Lander, WY where she co-owned a coffee shop and fell in love with mountain biking. She went to the Trek Summer Gravity camp in Whistler, Canada before deciding to learn how to pedal a bike uphills as well. She tried a race out in 2016 and earned her Pro license after one year of racing. She still races mountain bikes and gravel professionally.

While Nikki enjoys competition, her real passion is working with kids. With a multiple subject teaching credential, a Masters in Education, and her love for bikes, working with NICA has changed her life. She enjoys seeing the progress that kids make, both on and off the bike. She believes that the lifelong skills learned from challenging oneself goes far beyond the dirt. Furthermore, she has seen the positive impact that NICA has on parents, families, bike shops, sponsors, and communities as a whole.

Nikki is excited to continue working towards getting #morekidsonbikes while engaging the entire community!

I am pretty much a local gal, not born here but raised here. I am the mother of two boys, whom are the reason my husband and I helped start the Galena High School team in 2016. I have a huge passion for this sport and getting more kids out on bikes.  My favorite thing is to ride with the “newbies” and watch them soar at the end of the season. I am still coaching for the Galena team, kids call me Mama Ann and they know they can count on me to keep them organized and well fed during the season 🙂 I love every minute of it!!!
